IVF & Embryo Services
DeWitt Veterinary Clinic offers advanced reproductive technologies including in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET) services. Our experienced team works with cattle producers to maximize the genetic value of their best animals.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF allows producers to collect oocytes from genetically superior donors and fertilize them outside the body — dramatically increasing the number of offspring possible from a single high-value cow. Key advantages:
- Typically 3–6× more embryos per cycle than conventional ET
- Donors can be flushed more frequently
- Suitable for cows that respond poorly to conventional superovulation
- Pregnant cows and heifers can serve as donors
- Reduced semen requirements — ideal for limited-supply genetics
Embryo Transfer (ET)
Conventional embryo transfer remains one of the most effective tools for accelerating genetic progress in cattle. Our services include:
- Donor superovulation and synchronization
- Embryo collection (flush)
- Embryo evaluation and grading
- Fresh embryo transfer
- Embryo freezing (cryopreservation)
- Frozen embryo transfer
- Recipient cow synchronization and selection
Herd Reproductive Management
Our team can help you design a complete reproductive program that incorporates IVF and ET as part of a broader herd improvement strategy. We work with both seedstock and commercial producers.
